The Phantom of the Opera is a show that explores various themes of love, obsession,, and societal rejections. In addition to this, there are also themes of the natural world vs the supernatural. This story provides a look into the affects of obsession and how it can take a toll on someone and those who surround them. There is an element of societal issues of judging those who look differently than the normal standards. These two themes go hand in hand, but is not used in a way to excuse the actions of the characters. 

Phantom of the Opera is a show that takes place in Paris, France 1881 with various period performances within the show. The original book and film took on a more gothic aesthetic, which is going to be a theme I keep in my design. I am looking to emphasize this aesthetic with the Phantom and Christines outfits. This genre of fashion contributes to the overall eerie vibes of the show and their relationship. For this assignment I will be focusing on characters, The Phantom, Christine, Raoul, Carlotta, Madame Giry, and Meg. The contrast between the Phantom and Raoul will be noticeable through aesthetic and color palette. As well as the relationship between Madame Giry and Meg. These characters are each related through their relationships with the Phantom and each other and their character motives.
